The whispering of his white, silken robes echoed in the grand hallway.
He paced as the cataclysm of war was at hand. The King had summoned his presence to help him guide them through- he only hoped he could.
He returned to his room and knelt at the open window. He gazed up into the red horizon. He marveled at the beauty of their land and he prayed that somehow they would conquer over the realms of evil that threatened their lives.
"Your grace," a servant girl addressed as she approached the high priest. His gaze left the heavens and studied the frail girl before him.
She gasped softly at the intensity and wonder of his brilliant blue eyes. She never noticed, until then how his soft and gentle his eyes were. His hard features were softened by the glow of his eyes.
"Yes, my child?" He inquired as he stood up and crossed over to her. She felt her mouth go dry as she continued to stare at him. She cursed at herself silently- one was not to look at a high priest with lust. She paled instantly as she realized his gaze had not left hers.
"Do you feel ill?" He asked softly with concern masking his features.
"I'm fine, your grace-" she replied quickly. "No need to ask of my concern."
He smiled, "I am, who I am. Concerns of others, no matter their station, are my duty to resolve."
She blinked at his response as a smile spread across her face. "I have a message," she stated with authority as she handed him the parchment.
He took the letter from her hands and glanced at the royal seal. He sighed, knowing the contents of the letter and dismissed the girl.
His fingers brushed against the seal as he heard a knock at his door. "Yes?" He called out not bothering to turn around.
She looked at him dressed in his dazzling, white garments. She wondered if he would remember her. Her heart raced as she stepped closer, "Your grace-"
He stiffened as the sound of her voice rang through the air. Her voice had haunted his dreams and filled his heart.
She stepped closer, wanting- needing to be closer to him as he turned to her. Their gazes locked and for a second, time stood still-
She wrapped her arms around him, feeling the warmth of his skin radiating through his robes. Unable to stop his forbidden desires he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her tighter against his body, molding her into him.
Her blonde ringlets danced and her queenly garments sparkled under the setting sun.
"Ava," he moaned, burying his face into her hair.
"Ky," she sighed as he nipped tenderly at her neck. “You remember-"
"How could I ever forget?" He replied as he lifted her chin to gaze into her eyes. The soft glow of her silver tiara flickered, reminding him of their stations.
He reluctantly pulled away.
"Please-" she pleaded as her hand lingered on his face.
"We can't. We can never-" he began to say as she silenced him with a kiss.
He gasped at her touch as their past indiscretions flashed before them- they were young and destined to be great things, a high priest and a queen.
Forced apart by fate, they never imagined they'd meet again.
Her touch was soft and gentle, the only hands ever to touch him, to caress him.
A moment of sin and lust overwhelmed their senses. Their desire to be one overcame their sense of loyalty to their God and King.
Their passion burned and their bodies became one in sinful pleasure. Exhausted, they collapsed on his bed, their needs satisfied. She continued to cling to him for dear life, knowing that their time together was limited.
Unforeseen of the dangers that lurked ahead, they feel asleep in each others arms. Only, to be ripped apart a few moments later by the King.
"No!" she cried as the Kings guards pulled them apart and held onto them. "Zan, Please!"
Zan looked at her with disgust and glared at the man he would have considered a faithful ally.
"You are the High Priest of my lands!" Zan yelled, "What do you have to say for yourself?"
Ky glanced at Ava and knew it would be the last time he would see her- they were cursed with a forbidden love affair. They never had a chance to truly be together. "No matter what you do to me- somewhere, somehow we will be together again."
"Not, if I can help it-" Zan replied harshly as he sliced the priests throat with his dagger. Ava cried out as she pulled herself away from the guards and flung herself against his body.
"Somewhere, somehow- I'll find you," she promised as she watched the life drain from his eyes. Bitter tears rolled down her face. She glared at her King and then wrapped her arms around her true soul mate- she buried her head in his chest. Her blonde ringlets tinged with blood. "Somehow-"
