An alternate reality where Kyle, Liz, Max and Tess are dancers |
Isabel glanced up at the clock and nervously tapped her fingers against her chin. She glanced through the pictures of her latest find, and hoped that her partner would agree.
Max Evans and Tess Harding were a beautiful couple, deemed the King and Queen of the ballroom. Their grace and style were unmatched.
Isabel studied their pictures and articles about their blossoming career. They would be a perfect addition to their dance company.
Isabel looked up at her husband and smiled.
He crossed over to her and kissed her softly. "I found a great addition to our company!" Alex announced as he threw a file on top of her papers.
"I assume the trip out to the west coast was promising?" Isabel laughed as she shifted through his files and pulled out a glossy picture of a young couple.
"Kyle Valenti and Elizabeth Parker-" Alex explained as he pointed at the couple.
"They look good," Isabel pondered out loud as she outlined the picture with her fingertips. "But, how are they on the dance floor?"
"To say they are awesome would be an understatement," Alex replied, pulling a tape cartridge from his pocket. He turned to the monitor and inserted the tape.
Isabel pressed play and watched the couple dance a provocative salsa, "I'm impressed- they are as good as the couple I found."
"And who did we find?" Alex questioned as his eyes brightened.
Isabel quickly switched tapes and pressed play, "Max Evans and Tess Harding-"
Alex grinned as he studied the couple. He suddenly turned to Isabel, "do you know what this means?"
"With them, our dance company will soar!"
~
Max looked at Tess and forced a smile. He hated the thought of switching dance companies at this point in their career, "are you sure about this?"
"Max, we have worked so hard, we have pushed our bodies to the limit-"
"But, is this a good move for us?" Max questioned as he picked up her bag.
"You think too much-" Tess sighed. "I think this is the best opportunity that we have every had."
Max nodded and looked up at the old, gothic building that was to become their home. Max sighed and followed her into the building. Max stood transfixed at the door, still not sure if this was the right step.
"Hey, watch it!" A voice startled Max from behind. He turned around to see a young man, about his age holding a huge box.
"Sorry-" Max replied as he stepped aside. "My name's Max-"
"Oh, you must be Evans and Harding," he smiled as he shifted the box in his hands to get a better view at the couple. "We've been expecting you."
"Yes- our plane was delayed, twice." Tess explained as her gaze locked with the strangers.
"I'm Kyle-" he announced as he shifted the box again, managing to free a hand and waved.
"Kyle Valenti? Part of the dance team, Valenti and Parker?" Max inquired.
Kyle nodded, "we were going to rehearse later. Why don't you stop by, I'd love to see your style-"
"Sure," Tess replied quickly as she grabbed Max's hand. "We'd love too."
"If I don't go put this down soon, Liz may kill me later for dropping her-" Kyle laughed as he turned around and headed down the hallway. "Catch ya, later."
~
Liz stretched as Kyle stumbled through the doorway. "How you manage to dance is beyond me."
"What?" Kyle smirked as he put the box down. "You don't think I'm smooth and charming?"
"Only in your dreams," Liz laughed as she glanced at her partners far off gaze. "What's up?"
"I just met Evans and Harding-"
"They’re here?" Liz questioned, jumping up and rushing to the door. She peeked out and glanced down the hall, catching a small glimpse of blonde curls rounding the corner and out of site.
"Just got in," Kyle replied as he pulled off his jacket and sweat pants, revealing his fitted pants and shirt that he wore to practice in. "I invited them to practice with us."
"Do you think they are as good as the Whitman’s claim?"
"We will see soon," Kyle sighed as he offered his hand to Liz. "Shall we?"
~
Tess' thoughts drifted back to Kyle and his enchanting blue eyes. She sighed as she leaned back against Max's door.
"What's with you?" Max questioned as he noticed that far off look in her eyes.
"I'm just happy-" Tess whispered. "Are you ready? I really want to check Kyle out."
"Don't you mean Kyle and Liz?" Max inquired as Tess blushed. "Do we have a little crush on Mr. Valenti?"
"No." Tess snapped and Max smirked. "I don't-" She pouted as Max started to laugh at her insistence. "Oh, let's just go."
Max shook his head and followed her out of his room. They followed the music to the rehearsal studio.
"Is that them?" Max whispered as he looked through the glass door to the studio. Tess peaked in and her gaze went to Kyle's strong arms.
"Yes-" She sighed as she watched them dance in front of her.
"They're good-" he whispered.
"But, we're better." Tess replied with a grin on her face. "Let's show them what we got."
~
"Isabel-" Alex motioned for her to come to the window where he was perched. Isabel walked over and peered down into the rehearsal studio.
"They're here-"
"And, it looks like they are showing off-" Alex smirked as he studied the two couples down below.
"They have so much talent, so much potential." Isabel sighed as she noticed a shared glance between Kyle and Tess. "Did you see that?"
"What?" Alex questioned. "You mean the intense gaze Max and Liz shared?"
"Them too?" Isabel moaned. "This could be trouble."
"They're professionals, they won't let feelings flow onto the dance floor- let alone a performance."
"What if they do?" Isabel replied as she felt slightly nauseous. "It takes years to mold with your partner-"
"Let them do the dancing- everything will be fine."
~
"I'm starving," Kyle announced as he grabbed a towel and wiped the tiny beads of perspiration off.
"Me too-" Max agreed. "Where do we eat?"
"They have a little kitchen-" Liz explained as she pulled on her tie skirt.
"And unfortunately, it's stocked with healthy and nutritious food," Kyle groaned and Liz playfully hit him.
"Duh, we are dancers- we are suppose to eat healthy." Liz laughed.
"Exactly-" Tess agreed and Max groaned.
"Well, you two can eat it and Kyle and I will grab something to eat." Max announced as he glanced at Kyle. "Want to grab a burger?"
"Hell, ya!" Kyle replied as he smiled at the girls. "We will catch you later-"
The girls exchanged a look of disgust as they watched them run off to be ‘boys’-
~
Liz gave Tess a quick tour and ended the tour in the kitchen, just in time for dinner. Liz looked through the contents of the fridge, "hmm- how about some cold grilled chicken tossed in a salad?"
"Sounds great-" Tess replied as she studied the pretty brunette in front of her. "So, are we the only ones here?"
"For now-" Liz explained as she started to pull the contents for their dinner out onto the table. "Isabel said that she wanted to give her primary dancers extra time to rehearse and adjust to living here before the rest show up."
"Oh, and she wanted the four of us to bond, making the heart of the troupe strong and solid." Tess continued as she recalled Isabel’s words from when they had filled out the contracts and admission papers.
Liz nodded, "I have to admit you guys were great."
"Thanks," Tess blushed. "But, no better then the two of you. I was impressed- Kyle seems great."
"He is, and Max- he seems like a strong partner."
"He is." Tess sighed as they finished the preparations for dinner in silence.
They crossed over to the dinner table and ate silently- Liz suddenly looked up at Tess. "Are you together as in together- together?" Liz inquired without thinking and immediately blushed and looked down at her plate.
"Oh, no!" Tess gasped. "We tried for a little, but it just didn't feel right- I saw him as more of a brother." Tess explained softly. "We have been dancing together since I can remember. The only reason they paired us up in the first place was because we were cute together."
"Same with us," Liz sighed with relief. "Did they push you to be well, more?"
"Yes- you too?" Tess questioned feeling a link forming with Liz.
"They kept saying that if we- well, had sex, that it would transfer to the floor, making us an unstoppable pair."
Tess nodded, "do you think it's true?"
"I don't know- and I guess I'll never find out."
"Same here-" Tess sighed as she stood up and placed her plate in the sink.
Tess walked over to the window and glanced out, noticing the boys playing a game of football. "Will they ever grow up?"
"I doubt it," Liz smiled as she joined Tess at the window.
"Liz-" Tess whispered.
"Yes, Tess?"
Tess stared out the window, her gaze tracking Kyle's every move. "Can I-" Tess paused and looked down at her hands. "Never mind."
"Do you want to dance with Kyle?" Liz whispered and Tess looked up at her with shock.
"Am I that transparent?" Tess moaned as she looked back at the boys. "It's just that I've never danced with anyone, but Max-"
"You just want to see what it be like-" Liz sighed as her vision transfixed on Max. "I understand how you feel."
Tess eyes sparkled as she realized she wanted to dance with Max as well. "So, do you want to switch partners for a rehearsal?"
Liz looked at Tess with a puzzled look. "What do you mean?"
"One, little dance won’t hurt anything-" Tess replied. "I can see that far off dreamy look you give Max-"
Liz blushed, "I don’t think they would agree-"
"Who says we have to tell them?" Tess smiled with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
~
Kyle collapsed on the ground and glanced up at the stars. "This has been a great day-"
"It feels good to feel like a normal 'male' teenager-" Max replied as he sat down next to him.
"How many times have they asked if you were gay?" Kyle inquired.
"Too many to count, and thanks-"
"What for?" Kyle replied confused as he sat up and looked over at Max.
"You didn’t ask if I was, well gay-"
"Well, you didn’t check me out in rehearsal." Kyle replied realizing how self centered that made him sound. "I mean, most guys that swing the other way- check out the package and then somehow manage to accidentally touch you."
Max rolled his eyes, "tell me about it."
"So, I like to dance- it doesn't mean I'm gay." Kyle groaned. "But, they always roll their eyes in response and say that since I wasn't fucking Liz I had to be gay."
"You get that too?" Max laughed.
"You aren’t too bad-" Kyle smirked. "It will be nice to have a guy around for support. There’s way too much estrogen in the dancing field."
"You’ve read my mind," Max agreed.
"We better swing back, Liz and I have an early rehearsal."
~
Kyle stretched and meditated as he waited for Liz to come. The lights were dim and the music was set for their normal morning routine.
Kyle stood up and glanced at the clock, starting to worry as he heard the door open. He turned around to see Tess standing there in a formfitting tank dress that flared slightly at her hips and stopped mid thigh.
“Kyle?” Tess gasped. “I didn’t think anyone would be up this early.”
Kyle let out a quick breath, that he didn’t realize that he was holding. He blinked as Tess crossed over to him. "Tess?"
"Did you and Liz have a rehearsal scheduled?" Tess asked as she flashed a smile. "You wouldn’t mind if I stuck around?"
"Um- sure," Kyle replied as his gaze lingered on her lips.
Tess turned away and smiled to herself, her heart skipped a beat- his reaction couldn't have been any better. She turned to the bar and started a few stretches as she felt his gaze on her.
"Tess?" Kyle interrupted after a few minutes. "Have you seen Liz this morning?"
She turned to him, "since, I do share a room with her-"
"Oh, yeah-" Kyle mumbled as Tess walked over to him. "Did she say anything? She’s never late."
"No, but she was on the phone when I left," Tess explained.
"On the phone at this hour?" Kyle gasped as he glanced at the clock once more.
"Yes," Tess paused. "From what I could hear she was calling from overseas- it was her friend Maria, I think."
"Maria?" Kyle sighed as he ran his hair through his ruffled hair. "She'll never be off in time to get a worth while practice in-"
"I’m warmed up," Tess offered. "I'd love to dance- Max is never up this early and I'd hate to waste a perfectly good rehearsal session."
Before, Kyle could answer- she quickly turned around and pushed play. Soft music lingered in the air as she turned to him and offered him her hand.
Kyle gazed intently into her eyes and everything in his mind was telling him to run, but his heart wanted him to touch her- to feel her body against his. He touched her hand and felt a snap of electricity run up his body.
Tess' heart raced as in one swift movement his body melted into hers. For a second they stood breathless in each other’s arms.
The music soared and they moved together as if one, as they danced together for the first time-
~
"Good Morning, Liz." Max whispered as he looked into the girl's room. "Have you seen Tess?"
"She said something about rehearsing-" Liz replied as she gazed up into his amber eyes.
"Rehearsing? At this hour?" Max mumbled. "Well, I guess I will go check on her."
Liz looked up at the clock, knowing that Tess would be with Kyle. "Max?"
"Yes?" Max replied as he turned back into the room.
"Would you help me?" Liz asked softly as their gaze’s locked.
"What can I do?" He whispered.
"I have this ache in my muscle, that won't go away-" Liz explained. "I think we tried a little hard trying to show off yesterday- would you?"
Max felt his heart skip a beat- "no, problem."
"Thank you," Liz whispered as she rubbed her calf muscle. Max sat down beside her and she had to force herself to breathe.
Max touched her soft skin and forgot his mission to find Tess- he wanted nothing more then to be here with Liz.
The last few chords of the song faded as Kyle held Tess tight to his body. His gaze locked with hers- their hearts raced, beating as one.
She smiled as she softly traced his face with her fingertips. She closed her eyes in a blissful sigh as his hands moved from the curve of her back to the nape of her neck.
Kyle's thoughts of reason were masked by the intense need to kiss her- he pulled her even tighter against his body. His lips lingered and brushed against hers.
Her eyes fluttered open as a moan escaped her lips. She reached her arms around his neck, pulling him closer to her and crushing her lips against his.
Tess slipped her tongue between her lips and touched his lips. He groaned and opened his mouth to her, wanting to taste her.
Kyle lowered them to the ground, never breaking contact with her. Kyle cupped her breast under the flimsy material, causing her to groan as he grazed his fingers against her pert nipples.
"Kyle," she gasped as he nibbled down her neck to her breast.
Tess rubbed her hands against his chest and hungrily pulled off his shirt. She dipped her hand into his tight pants-
Kyle moaned and pulled away, he managed to sit up. "We have to stop- if I don't stop now, I don't think I will be able too-" he panted as she pushed him back onto the mat.
She grinded her hips into him and then covered his body with hers. "Don't stop-" she whispered into his ear as she kissed him once more.
In a quick movement her rolled them over so that he could gaze down into her eyes, "are you sure? I don't have-"
"Kyle, please-" she moaned. "I need you."
Kyle kissed her as he slid his hand to her inner thigh and stroked her softly. She rocked her hips into his- "Tess," he growled as his erection grew painfully harder.
"I'm on the pill-" she whimpered as he teased her entry way with his fingers. "Kyle!" she gasped as he dipped his fingers into her hot dripping core.
Tess tugged at his pants and eagerly pealed off the rest of his clothes.
In the dim light they studied and caressed each others bodies. Their muscles, taunt and sculpted as any dancer's body would be.
She wrapped her legs around him and guided him- "Kyle," she cried out as he entered slowly into her body. "Oh," She groaned and flinched slightly in pain as he pushed further into her, tearing her protective seal.
"Tess?" He gasped as he paused. Tess nodded and arched her back slightly, pushing him deeper into her. He paused once more feeling her tight around her and kissed her.
He moved in and out slowly- she moaned with every agonizing plunge as he went deeper each time.
"Tess," he panted against her lips. He wanted their first time to be perfect. He felt her walls clamp and quiver around him.
"Kyle," she cried as she dug her nail into his back.
"Tessahh-" He groaned as they climaxed together.
They clung onto each other, basking in the afterglow of their lovemaking. Their breathing and heart rate calmed as the whispered sweet nothings to each other.
Kyle glanced away from her face and groaned at the time. "We have to hurry- we have the Whitman’s breakfast this morning."
"I don't want to go- I want to stay here," Tess protested as she kissed his neck.
Kyle growled softly as she snaked her hand down his abdomen. He grabbed her hands before she could go down any lower, "not now- later, tonight."
"Tonight?" Tess smiled as she unwrapped her arms from his body, feeling chilled without his body next to hers.
The dressed quickly and Kyle stood up and turned off the stereo.
"Kyle, um- I think you need to change," Tess gasped as he turned to her confused.
"Why?" He asked as he looked at himself in the mirror.
"Turn around," she giggled as he turned to see thin red welts going down his back. Tess crossed over to him and kissed the angry welts and Kyle smirked.
"I kinda like them-" he replied as Tess hit him playfully on the arm. "Come here-" he growled as he wrapped his arms around her, for one last kiss.
~
Max and Liz sat opposite of the Whitman’s. Max glared at the clock and cursed under his breathe.
"Where did you say they were?" Isabel asked again.
"Right, here-" Kyle replied as he and Tess walked through the doors.
Max and Liz glanced up at their partners with relief. "We took a walk, since Liz couldn't make our practice." Kyle continued to explain as he sat down next to Liz.
"A walk?" Liz questioned as she looked over at Tess, had their little plan not worked? Tess nodded in agreement, but Liz noticed a twinkle in her eyes. "You'll have to tell me about it later," Liz remarked slightly confused.
Tess sat down beside Max, "did we miss much?" She asked as she noticed the breakfast in front of them, and realized she was starving.
"No- we were just about to go over the plan for the four of you and the rest of the school," Isabel replied.
~
A few hours later, the couples were paired and warming up in the studio.
Kyle couldn't help but grin as he glanced at the mat were they had made love earlier. He wanted to pull her away from Max's arms and devour her once more.
Liz touched his arm breaking his concentration, "What's with the t-shirt?" Liz asked as he wrapped his arms around her.
"It was clean-" he muttered as Liz stifled a giggle as the music began.
Tess snuck a glance at Kyle, envying that Liz was in his arms. She sighed as Max pulled her tighter against his body and dipped her.
Isabel studied their movements and sighed. They were dancing so stiffly- so, uncaring.
~
Isabel paced the office not noticing the sunlight fading into darkness. She didn't know what to do- here primary dancers were a mess.
"I thought I'd find you here-" Alex soft voice echoed in the silence. He wrapped his arms around her, "you worry to much-"
"Oh, Alex- this was my dream, ever since the accident. I wanted to give back to the community some way-"
"And you will-" Alex whispered as he kissed her neck softly. "Maybe its just jitters."
"Maybe," Isabel sniffed. "Have I told you lately, how much I love you?"
Alex laughed, "why don't we call it a night?"
She nodded as started to follow him out of the office when she heard a few strains of music wafting up from the studio.
"Did you hear that?" Isabel asked as she turned away and walked to the window overlooking the studio.
"Maybe they felt bad for today's performance and wanted to make up for it-" Alex replied as he joined Isabel and looked down.
Isabel felt a little guilty for spying, but she couldn't make out the couple below. "Can you tell who it is?" Isabel whispered as a trace of moonlight reflected their faces. "It can't be-"
"Kyle and Tess?" Alex replied with confusement. Isabel nodded as she turned on the cameras.
Alex and Isabel watched the monitors flicker as the couple's image came into focus.
~
The music swelled and Kyle felt at home as she danced in his arms. They moved quickly and gracefully across the floor, feeling their passion rise with the every beat of their hearts.
The music faded as the held their ending pose. Tess looked up at him and they closed the small agonizing gap between them with a kiss.
The door slammed open and their kiss ended abruptly. They jumped apart as they realized their intruders were Alex and Isabel. Tess ducked behind Kyle, her arms lingering around his waist.
"We can explain-" Kyle began as Isabel held out her hand for him to stop.
Tess noticed tears in her eyes and stepped out from behind Kyle's protective stance. "We’re sorry- we didn't mean to cause any problems."
"Follow me-" Isabel whispered. They nodded and followed them back to the office.
"How long has this been going on?" Alex questioned, "I didn't realize you knew each other."
Tess and Kyle glanced at each other with confusement. "Today-" Tess whispered as Alex and Isabel shared a glance.
Isabel turned the monitor on and Kyle and Tess looked up at a frozen still of themselves. "You taped us?" Kyle gasped.
"I want you to see, what I saw-" Isabel replied, pushing play.
The haunting music filled the air once again as Kyle and Tess watched in fascination at their movements and style.
The music faded and Isabel froze their image at their kiss. "This little number, who choreographed it? How did you learn it so quickly, if you haven’t danced together before today?" Isabel questioned.
"We just danced-" Tess whispered as she held Kyle's hand in hers. "We just followed the music and our hearts."
Isabel sighed, "I've never seen anything so raw and as powerful in my life. It was like watching two halves of a whole, a lovers dance-" Tess blushed and Kyle pulled her closer to him. "I want you two to dance together permanently-"
Tess and Kyle exchanged shocked glances. "What about Liz? and Max?" Kyle gasped as he realized he didn't have to hide their relationship. "You'll let us dance?"
"If you can dance with just once drop of the passion you showed earlier- you'll be unstoppable."
~
"Max, I have you seen Kyle?" Liz asked as she looked around the room. "Or, Tess?"
"Kyle, said he was going to go practice-" Max replied as he noticed tears in her eyes. "I assumed he was with you."
Liz sniffed back her tears, "no."
Max crossed over to her and wrapped his arms around her, "shh-".
"Something, happened-" Liz cried. "I shouldn't have agreed to it!"
"What happened?" Max asked softly, wiping her tears away.
"They claimed they took a walk- but, I know Kyle and not once in our practice did he dance they way he used too."
"Same with Tess-" Max whispered as he rubbed her back softly, liking the feeling of her in his arms.
"I think," Liz whispered. "I lost my partner today."
~
The curtain closed as Kyle pulled Tess closer to him and kissed her. Tess moaned in response and squeezed his hand softly as they pulled apart in time for the curtain to rise-
They looked out into the large audience and bowed. The audience clapped in response to their grand performance, it was a standing ovation for the opening night of 'Night Whispers'.
Alex embraced Isabel as they watched from their box seats. Isabel wiped away a tear as she looked at the young lovers and their promising careers. "They did it-"
"Kyle and Tess stole the show," Alex commented. "I have a feeling that Max and Liz will be catching up soon."
"But, nothing can compare to them-" Isabel sighed. "They personified the passion and love of a lovers embrace. They are unstoppable-"
