He reached out and wrapped his fingers around the wrought iron frame of his rickety old bed, his knuckles whitening as he tightened his grip. A gasp escaped his lips as his body was being claimed by another with hard, swift strokes.

“Daniel,” a breathy sob whispered from behind and he closed his eyes, trying to imagine another’s voice- slightly deeper, huskier.

Daniel groaned in response to the man stroking his erection and pushed back against him, causing his lover to take him deeper. Daniel gasped for air, thrusting uncontrollably into the hard, relentless grip around. He shouted in a foreign tongue as his climax continued to evade him, his body tensing with heightened desire and the need for release.

“Oh. Daniel.” His lover gasped once more as the pace quickened. Loud, incoherent moans echoed into his ear, but it was all wrong. The hands on him were too small, too feminine. The body was equally as small. It distracted him. “Daniel,” his lover gasped once more, his voice coming in short breathy gasps. “Come with me. Please. Danny.” He cringed slightly at the use of his nickname and he squirmed slightly as his lover continued to beg him, pressing small kisses into his neck.

An image of the one he wanted focused in his mind, bringing his orgasm to a peak. “Jack,” he cried as they both came. His lover sighed with bliss, as Daniel repeated ‘Jack’ over and over again. But, it was the image and touch of another Jack that made him climax, and not his lover. The one that was out of reach, forever.

Daniel’s grip lessened on the bed frame as he felt his lover roll off of him. Sex. No more, no less- and each time he felt more alone and empty.

He felt soft touches down his back, sweet caresses that he rather not have. Daniel pulled away and sat up. “Daniel?” His lover questioned and Daniel pushed himself off of the bed.

“Shhh, go to sleep.” He replied quickly, leaning down and brushing a finger against his lips. His lover sighed and relaxed into the bed, and he retreated to the bathroom and locked himself in. Daniel couldn’t face the mirror, and he felt the overwhelming need to cleanse his skin of the imposter’s touch.

He sighed and stepped into the shower. He turned on the water and let the cool water slowly heat up. He closed his eyes and lifted his head back, letting the scalding water scorch and cleanse his skin. His eyes opened as he realized that no amount of water would erase his past lovers and meaningless sex. There was nothing that could replace the hole in his heart.

Dr. Daniel Jackson sat in the briefing room with the rest of SG-1, trying to look attentive to Major Carter’s research on the new element found on P6X2967 by SG-9.

“So, this stuff is relevant to SGC, because?” Colonel O’Neill questioned looking bored across the table. Daniel rolled his eyes and tapped his pencil in response, looking up to Carter for an answer as well.

“Not sure, Sir,” she responded quickly as she pulled out another picture. “I believe that these inscriptions may give us a better understanding, but Major Irving cut off almost half of the markings.”

“Inscriptions?” Daniel interrupted, his interest peaking as he reached over and grabbed the picture.

“Let me guess,” O’Neill stated dryly as he glanced between them. “You want to go study them.”

“Do you not approve, ColonolO’Neill,” Teal’c stated, raising his eyebrow in question.

“P6X2967 isn’t safe to go skipping along, looking at the graffiti,” He groaned shaking his head.

“Dr. Jackson?” General Hammond acknowledged as he turned his attention to the archeologist. “Have you found anything that would be of value to assume risk of another mission to P6X2967?”

“Power.” Daniel began as he continued to study the picture. “This symbol here,” Daniel began as his fingers ghosted over the picture. “It means power, but the next few symbols aren’t clear to determine what this power is.”

“Sir,” Carter smiled as she nodded her head in agreement. “It makes sense, I believe that this could be another source of the Ancients’ power.”

“Better then the crystals?” O’Neill questioned as he leaned forward.

“Very possible,” Daniel nodded as he tapped his fingers against the picture.

“Sweet.” The Colonel replied, seemingly more at ease at the thought of the mission.

“But, we’d have to go back.” Daniel stated as he glanced up at the team. “I need to be able to read the rest of the inscription.”

“Sure, whatever.” O’Neil chuckled, shaking his head as he turned his attention to the General. “Sir?”

“Move out, see what you can find. You have twenty-four hours.”

Daniel tried to immerse himself into his work, sketching and translating the symbols of the foreign language. But, he found himself more and more distracted by the Colonel pacing behind him.

“Well?” Jack questioned as he stepped beside him and Daniel drew in a quick breathe, Jack’s scent overpowering his senses.

“You tell me,” he replied quickly as he shot him a heated glance.

“Huh?” Jack groaned as his gaze locked onto his.

“You know this Jack,” Daniel began. “Almost, better then I do.”

“It’s chicken’s scratch.” Jack shrugged as he lifted his arm and touched the wall before them.

Daniel sighed as he lifted his hand, his fingers brushing against Jack’s and it took all his willpower not to caress him further. “Power.”

“In one’s self.” Jack whispered, “huh, it’s a story.” He continued as he read the next few symbols. “It’s nothing.” He stated as he continued to look over the wall, his hand dropping down slightly and caressing Daniel’s for a brief second.

“It’s nothing.” Daniel agreed, aching for Jack to touch him more.

“Too bad.” He whispered and withdrew away.

“Too bad,” Daniel repeated regretfully, his fingers burning from the brief touch. “It’s nothing.” He whispered to himself, closing his eyes. “It’s nothing.”

The End.
